…Math Millionaire?

This is a great game to help us remember how to write expressions.

Here’s a terrific place to review order of operations.

Finally, it’s time for some “1-on-1″ to solve 1 step equations.

Today in science we learned about clouds. We used a container of warm water, an empty container, and ice to investigate what makes up clouds.  Be sure to ask your child to explain what happened after 1, 5 and 10 minutes of watching the ice on top of the containers.

First, as we do every Tuesday, we started off with a great half-hour of P.E. We are on the final days of our soccer unit, and today we started off with a game in which we tried to keep soccer balls in the air. Later on, we were split up into teams and played soccer games against each other. Once we were revived from all the exercise, we worked on our Tuesday D.O.L. After checking, Eli led us in our Daily Analogy, which was: garbage : trash :: ________ : glossy (the answer was shiny).

We then moved on to grammar, where we learned about complete and simple subjects and predicates. We reviewed some problems together, and then we were split up into partners to work on a few worksheets. After finishing, we reviewed Walk Two Moons together. Then, at 11:20, we switched groups for enrichment. In Mrs. Ozawa’s group, we read aloud the profiles about us and discussed them as a group. Then, we figured out what our Coast to Coast places had in common with her traveling group’s places.

As the bell rang, we went outside for recess, and then came in again for a hearty lunch. We went back to the class and worked on our spelling book pages. Then, Eli gave his Current Events articles; one was about Brookfield Zoo having to give back their last elephant, and the other was about Iran’s president saying negative comments about the U.S.

Following that, we switched for math. In Mrs. Weissman’s math class, we were given a story problem involving function tables and rules. Then, we learned more about functions and inequalities. “They’re so much fun,” commented Amanda about function tables. Lastly, we had a little extra time to get started on our homework pages. Immediately following math, we went up to the Computer Lab to create our route for Coast to Coast on Google Maps. We worked on that with our groups until it was time to go back downstairs. Finally, we wrote down our homework, grabbed our backpacks, and left the room precisely at 3:17. What a great day it had been.

First we had gym, right now we are in the soccer unit. Which basically means we are doing soccer for two and a half weeks. So we went outside and split up into three teams, and into three stations. We switched stations every 5-10 minutes. After gym we came back to our class and did D.P.E(Daily Paragraph Editing) and I did O.K. but my partner did amazing. Then we did the daily analogy, you probably seen we do a lot of daily things. The daily analogy is just what it seems we get an analogy from Factmonster.com and then we answer it as a class.

After the daily analogy, we redid a science experiment from yesterday and it worked today, we were trying to figure out the density of different temperature water with food coloring, and salt. All in all it was a very fun project. At about 10:30 we reviewed our novel review that was due today Tuesday September 21. So we took a mini quiz, consisting of a match 1 and 1 together. After that we reviewed the real novel questions and then turned it in.

At 11:50 we had Recess and then Lunch, I probably shouldn’t go to in depth about lunch and Recess.  Then for Jillian’s birthday we took an extra recess, and Lucy Cohen said,” It was a blast”. Afterwards we did social studies and packed up. At 3:17 the bell rang and school was over.
